The Woodlands, Texas has been consistently ranked in the list of the best cities to live in America, most recently landing at #4 in 2019. The abundance of greenery and amenities make the town attractive to a variety of people in different stages of life, and the safety factor continues to prove it to be a wonderful place for families. In fact, it is ranked as #2 on the list for the best cities for families!

The Woodlands reads as a small town meets a big city- there are plenty of things to do, places to eat and things to see, but it’s still relatively small, has suburban neighborhoods, highly rated schools and is home to many families with children. Additionally, it serves as a fantastic place to live if you commute to work. Many residents have jobs in Downtown Houston, but instead of living in the city, they’re able to commute into the city and still live a suburban lifestyle.

The Woodlands is known for its wide selection of shopping and dining, but the local gems really stand out. The Woodlands Farmer’s Market at Grogan’s Mill is a great place to get fresh food, produce and handmade products while supporting local farmers and makers. However, if there is one thing our residents love the most, it’s sweets. Macaron by Patisse is a Houston-local bakery that offers traditional French Macarons, gelato, and tea. They opened their second location here in Hughes Landing, and have been a staple for many people’s pastry cravings. There are always new restaurants and coffee shops popping up, so there’s something for everyone to love.

It’s named The Woodlands for a reason- the community was specifically designed to maintain the surrounding forest and incorporate plenty of greenery throughout the community, but there are several large green spaces and nature preserves that are great for fishing, biking, running, and just exploring in nature. Lake Woodlands is a large lake in the middle of the city and on its edge sits North Shore park, where there are plenty of opportunities to get out on the water, whether it be paddleboarding or kayaking. George Mitchell Nature Preserve is the largest local greenspace, protecting over 1,700 acres of forest – offering both homes for the woodland animals, and hiking and biking trails for residents.

Everyone needs a good evening out once in a while. Market Street, The Waterway, and Hughes Landing are all fantastic spots for fine dining, shopping, and great places for an evening out with the family or a date night. Hughes Landing has a restaurant row, with plenty of choices for places to eat, spanning several different cuisines. Make your way down to the Waterway, where you can stroll along the river, or even take the water taxi for a spin. If you’re in the mood for some live music, check out who’s playing at the Pavillion and enjoy a show out on the lawn!

There is no shortage of things to do in the Woodlands- there truly is something for everyone. The area is constantly growing, changing and expanding with new, exciting things to try. In your search for a place to live, we hope you’ll consider our unique little community for all that it has to offer.
